Independent Learning is a favourite subject of our students, not only because the classroom setting is special: no tables, no desks, but couches and pillows on mats but also because of what they are learning here. Independent Learning is cross-cutting several subjects and encourages to think outside the box: reading a book out loud and researching what the students learned beyond the story, making a video about what the students learned about bees, learning about valuable concepts of social day-to-day interaction: self-control, kindness to others, self-care, think before you speak angrily, and online activities to practice time tables and spelling for English. One example, while reading the book “The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind” by Bryan Mealer and William Kamkwamba, they are researching about Malawi people, geography and culture.
